“BW on HANA the same as BW/4HANA – correct?!” No!

I recently presented at a UK & Ireland SAP User group event in Birmingham. The day before my presentation I was speaking with a SAP customer who has a BW system; I asked him if he’s planning to attend my presentation on BW/4HANA migration.

His response??

“We migrated to BW on HANA two years ago and so, no offense, I don’t need to attend your session!”

In a potentially awkward moment, I gently advised him that BW on HANA and BW/4HANA are separate SAP enterprise data warehouse solutions.

At least with the migration from ECC to S/4HANA the naming convention is not confusing and SAP customers are aware that these are separate SAP solutions.

Maybe I should start an online petition to get BW/4HANA renamed - if I get 10k signatures I’ll contact SAP!!
